First Baptist Church is once again partnering with Samaritan’s Purse through the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Project! The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world. Through this project, Samaritan’s Purse partners with the local church worldwide to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and make disciples of the nations. If you’re unfamiliar with this project and would like to learn more please visit the official website HERE.
Last year, FBC contributed 180 boxes which was a record! Our goal is to increase the boxes by 10% this year. If you would like to be a part of sharing joy, hope and the gospel of Jesus to children all over the country, then here are your next steps:
- Grab a box and label from the FBC church lobby beginning Wednesday Oct 30th
- Fill your box with approved items (see suggestions & do’s and don’ts here)
- Contribute $10 to cover processing, shipping, and gospel materials in specific languages. This is quite a deal for shipping and helps great! (Checks made out to Operation Christmas Child OR cash can be placed in jar at table in lobby Sunday mornings)
- Return your box to the church NO LATER than Sunday morning November 17th. All boxes will be checked and packaged for shipping that afternoon and MUST be taken to facility. Please do not drop off boxes to the office after this date.
- Other tips: Culver’s offers cool inflatable soccer balls after 10 tokens/visits– (You would need to then include a pump for the ball). Kohls has very inexpensive stuffed animals, (usually in the back of the store). We are after quality vs quantity. If you wouldn’t buy it for your child or grandchild, then please do not include it.
This project is open to the entire community! If you do not worship at FBC but would like to participate you are more than welcome to grab a box during our open office hours (M-Th 8am-3pm), and simply return your box during the same hours or have someone deliver your box by the deadline as stated above.
Thank you!
