Resurrection Sunday

-Pastor Kim

We are about to celebrate the greatest event In the history of mankind. It has changed more lives than any other event.  In fact it is so amazing that many people don’t even believe it happened.  The event I am talking about is the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.  I’m sure you know of many people who have conquered great things and overcome great obstacles.  How many people do you know that have overcome death?  Only One, and his name is Jesus.

If you have grown up in the church, you  have grown accustomed to the phrase “the resurrection of Jesus Christ.” Maybe you have grown too accustomed.  Stop and think about it with me for a moment.

You are dead. For three days, everything is dead – every cell, every nerve, every organ has stopped and started to decay, and in a moment there is new life.  It’s not life from within – every cell is dead.  This is a life from outside of oneself.  This is the life only God can give from completely outside of ourselves.  It is the life that the father breathed into his son like he did the first Adam in creation.

But it’s more than even that. It’s not just life for a few more years or another lifetime, it’s eternal life.

It’s life that goes on and on and on.  It never ends, and in fact when that resurrection life begins, death is no longer needed in the language of the saint. It’s a thing of the past. As we move into this Easter, resurrection season, I think it would be good to slow down a bit and ponder the resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Not only is it the proof that Jesus was who he said he was.  Not only was it the power of the Father that raised Jesus but it is the same power that lies latent in the body of every believer.  It’s not a power like the power that raised Jesus; it’s not a power similar to that which raised Jesus; it is the same power that raised Jesus.

Over this month of March take some long walks in the warming March sun and ponder this amazing truth.  “And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of hi Spirit who lives In you.”  Romans 8:11
