Battling Unbelief
No one sins out of duty. We sin because it offers a promise of happiness. When we go down the path of sin, we find that its promise enslaves us. To walk away from sin and its slavery, we must believe that God’s promise of happiness is greater and more lasting. Indeed, we must come to believe that God’s love is more desirable than life itself (Psalm 63:3). Only the power of God’s superior promises in the gospel can free our hearts from slavery to the shallow promises and fleeting pleasures of sin.
In this 10-session video study developed by Desiring God, you will find practical ways to sever the clinging roots of sin that ensnare us, including anxiety, pride, shame, impatience, covetousness, bitterness, despondency, and lust.
